Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain…

Justin and I leave for Oklahoma on Friday morning. We are both really looking forward to seeing family and the farm. I have been checking the weekend weather updates and it looks like it will be in the 90’s with thunderstorms!

Justin and his brother and cousins can’t wait to go fishing in the pond on the farm. After my last experience fishing on the farm I can assure you that I will be nowhere near that pond, for several reasons. Reason #1 I refuse to stand under a tree that may or may not have snakes “hanging” in it. Ain’t gonna happen. Reason #2 The gross catfish bait that we used last time made me regret that I was born with the sense of smell.

Anywho, look forward to some interesting posts after the trip. I am sure that over the course of the long weekend I will have a multitude of opportunities to run into various forms of “wildlife” (cows and spiders the size of Pluto are coming to mind).

American Idol craziness

So I have officially become a nerd- I just bought pre-sale tickets for the American Idol top 10 concert tour that is coming to LA this summer. My mom and I are huge fans of David Cook and want to see him live. The only other time I have been to the Staples Center was for a Clippers game. It is quite a huge arena. The concert is on a Monday night so I am sure traffic will be nuts going in to LA. We will probably need to leave at noon :)

Anyway, watch out all you little Archuleta fans- Cook is going to take it all!

fighting the boredom

This week at work I am administering the “Associate Opinion Survey”… This requires me to sit in a meeting room all week from 8a-4p handing out surveys to people who drop by to share their opinions. (In case you were wondering, on Monday I had less than 20 people the WHOLE day, and today I have had a grand total of 5 participants). Well, one of my bosses is a nice woman who showed me mercy and set me up with internet access and a house phone at my make-shift desk. The problem is- I am using someone else’s laptop so I do not have access to any of my work files. Thus, all I have access is to my work e-mail, which fortunately has provided some much needed human communication. All that to say: I am dying for something to do, and so I am now going to provide you all with some movie reviews for movies Justin and I have seen recently:

Baby Mamma: Funny movie. Had a twist that I wasn’t expecting which was good, but I would be lying if I said the trailer didn’t showcase all the funniest parts of the movie, i.e. Amy Poehler peeing in the sink because she cannot get the baby-proofed toilet seat open.

Into the Wild: I HATED this movie. (Which, I know, puts me in the minority, because apparently everyone else in America loved it). I thought the main character was rude, selfish, and just plain weird. Yeah, yeah, some of the scenery was nice,  but it was way too long (I even took a 30 minute nap in the middle of it- which is something I  never do!)

Dan in Real Life: I liked this movie a lot more than I expected to. Steve Carrel was funny, but it was a lot different than the roles you normally see him in. Also, it had a really fun and random cast of characters.

P.S. Someone else just came in to take the survey!! Score!
