oh, silly Skyla

sky

Yesterday Skyla had quite the adventure. And by adventure I mean the sort of adventure that makes her poor mother get ulcers and premature wrinkles.

Around 10am Justin was working in the front yard using some loud machinery and did not notice when Skyla slipped away and down the street. He looked for her and put up a few signs but was pretty convinced someone must have taken her in.

He decided not to tell me about this whole situation until almost 4pm. I suppose it wouldn’t have done much good for me to be a basket case at work all day. Once he called I printed up more flyers at work, borrowed the staple gun from our maintenance department and hauled my little tushy home as fast as possible.

It took us a little over an hour to post more than 40 signs around the neighborhood. I am not being dramatic when I say that literally 10 seconds after we put up the very last sign, we found her! Some nice soul had been walking her dogs earlier in the morning and Skyla just walked up and joined them. She was gracious enough to take Skyla home and feed her. Justin commented that Skyla probably thought she was at some sort of doggy day care- she spent her whole day playing!

Her punishment was that she had to go around with us for the next hour while we pulled down every single sign we had just put up. I was very frustrated but found it hard to be upset when I was so happy to have Skyla home, safe and sound.

  • Thanks for visiting me! I’ll try to answer your bread question better in the next day or so, but I’d start with a simple white bread recipe in the machine, and work my way up from there. I find Donna Rathmell German’s bread machine cookbook to be excellent, because it’s very simple. I also have one by Beth Hensperger, but that’s more complex and tends to put me off. I’m so glad you commented!

I love your dog! We were preparing to go to the opera once, years ago, when I got a phone call from a lady asking if we had a dog named Max. Turned out he was in her yard, 5 miles from our house, playing with her kids, and she called the phone number on his tag. They can drive us nuts, can’t they?
